Invitation

Dear Colleagues

In the first decade of this new Millennium, global warming along with unpredictable weather-patterns and the rapidly raised input prices in agriculture has considerably questioned the optimistic food supply scenarios of previous times. Also, at on-farm level, in many parts of the world, even in well developed areas, the agricultural production has become a risky business. Enhancing crop adaptability at low level of nutrient input, under high temperatures and unbalanced rainfall is an incredible challenge today. To address this challenge we believe that an extensive dialog can help in getting over on the critical problems in agricultural activities. Therefore a complex approach based on knowledge and experiences in crop improvement, improved agricultural production technologies, resource management are needed to reach the food, feed and nutritional security in vulnerable parts of the globe.

Keeping these facts in view, the 3rd International Seminar for Crop Science for Food Security, Bio-energy and Sustainability aims

• to review the status of knowledge at global level on agriculture, particularly on food, bioenergy, natural resources and environmental security

• to identify long term challenges of food, bio-energy, livelihood security

• to provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge and technologies on sustainable agriculture in standard and stressed environments

• to establish an international forum for researchers and development functionaries concerned with natural resources including agriculture, forestry and other relevant disciplines for sustainable development

The technical program of the International Seminar will consist of plenary lectures, keynote and standard lectures, poster presentations, discussions with scientists, policy planners, representatives from industry and NGO's. You and your Colleagues are invited to join us at Szeged, Hungary and we will be delighted to welcome you.
